Can the GDO be scheduled to fly same day as duty? Day after?
No, unless MAG XO grants approval. Shall not fly the next day.
Can the SDO be scheduled to fly same day? Day after?
Yes, not normally scheduled to fly after normal working hours (Evaluated by CO). Shall not the next day
Can the ODO be scheduled to fly same day?
Yes, provided there is more than 1 ODO and time to complete all required events associated with a flight. Obviously not to violate crew day or crew rest
Who designates initial HACs?
MAG-CO
When are you subject to a FFPB concerning achieving HAC designation?
Provided reasonable opportunity to correct deficiencies.
How long shall a warm-up flight be?
Not less than 1 hour. Subsquent flights may be flown consecutively on the same day with an added minimum of 1 hour for each required flight. If more than 1 is required one can be flown in sim
Can you fly consecutive flights on the same day as your warm up?
Yes with the added 1 hour minimum for each required warm up flight.
What should a warm-up flight consist of?
Flight regimes the HAC believes are necessary to regain proficiency.
What criteria must be met before aircrew can fly?
- Course Rules training (pilots). 2. Have completed an open and closed book NATOPS exam. 3. Posses a current NATOPS flight evaluation in model. 4. Current swim qual. 5. Flight physical with up-chit. 6. Current on R&I 7. Flown in model in last 30 days to act as the HAC.
What is the minimum requirement in regards to ORM
The HAC is responsible for reviewing the operational risks involved with their assigned flight and aircrew and brief the crew accordingly.
Who is authorized to make changes to the flight schedule?

What must a HAC do before accepting an Aircraft
- Sign for aircraft in OOMA or with ADB 2.Ensure aircraft is acceptable for mission by inspecting mx data and discrepancy reports 3. Ensure all crew and pax are manifested with mx and the ODO 4. Preflight
What should HAC look for on a FOD walk/inspection prior to engine start/hotseating?
- Outstanding MAFs TFOA items. 2. Panels are closed and secure 3. Fasteners present or safety wired 4. No rags present 5. Tools and rags are ATFed 6. Blade ropes and tie downs removed 7. No miscellaneous items within/near rotor arc 8. Rags available to wipe down a/c as necessary 9. Location of nearest fire bottle 10. Items on the TFOA watch list
Can you secure your smacks on start up?
Yes, if the tactical situations dictates. So no for us boots
When can Pax/non participating aircrew enter aircraft?
at 100% Nr
What is the signal that your aircraft is ready?
Steady position lights. Crew Chief with a thumbs up.
When are spinning back ups required?
Maintenance Control shall provide back-up for all frags, instructor certification flights, and external support missions if possibles.
What is the minimum tip path clearance when assisted by a taxi director?
25ft
When is a panel check required?
SHALL: Prior to departing the flightline for the 1st flight of the day. SHOULD: on all subsequent flights
What is required anytime the aircraft is stopped when taxiing?
PAC will state ‘holding brakes’ or ‘parking brake set’ when aircraft is stopped for any reason And PAC will get confirmation from CC that aircraft is clear prior to resuming movement
When SHALL wheel chocks be used?
a. Non-tactical cargo loading or unloading. B. Non-tactical pax embark. C. Hot seating operations conducted on the flightline
D. Extended troubleshooting E. At the discretion of the HAC.

Who is responsible for security of aircraft at RON locations?
HAC. Normal security at an active military base is adequate If in a reserve or national guard location or civilian airport HAC shall evaluate security
PAX and Troop Transport Rules
CO or designated rep shall approve non frag pax. Seat belt or gunners belt from takeoff to landing. Min Altitude: 200’ AGL
When can the jump seat be occupied?
Anytime at HAC’s discretion. SHALL not be occupied during takeoffs and landings

Can simulated emergencies be conducted with pax/troops on board?
Shall not be done if sim emerg affects a/c controllability [as does CNAF]
When shall OPC be completed?
- Prior to conducting external ops. 2. When power required is within 10% of Power available per the preflight W&P. 3. OPC may be conducted during mission profiles where in the judgement of the HAC Pr may exceed Pa or power performance is in question.
What shall the HAC inspect prior to external lift?
- Pendants. 2. Aircraft cargo hook. 3. Cargo hook security
What power margin shall the HAC ensure is had during external ops?
5% power margin in a HOGE
What do all crewmembers need when conducting externals?
- Operating ICS. 2. Gunners Belt.
When can crewmembers change positions during externals?
On the deck
What checks SHALL be done prior to conducting an external lift?
OPCs and Hook checks. These should normally be conducted by the external op crew and not normally hot seated.
External Power Margin
Pa SHALL exceed Pr to HOGE by 5%
What is required of all palletized cargo or containers?
SHALL be weighed and should be displayed
Internal Power Margin
WITHOUT a running takeoff/landing Pa SHALL exceed Pr by 5% in 10’ hover. SHALL have HOGER Pa for obstacle or shipboard departures
When can you takeoff after a PEL?
Day time: only after CO consent; Night time: only MAG-16 CO can authorize
What should be utilized during night taxiing?
Spotlights or landing light
When do you need to carry NVDs?
Flights scheduled to land within 1 hour of sunset. Min of 1 extra set
When do you need CO’s approval for a flight delay?
Delay greater than 30 minutes of scheduled land time.
Greater than 15 minutes OPSO approval
What is required during a hotseat?
1 qualified pilot/copilot on controls. Incoming aircrew shall recieve an ICS debrief from the offgoing crew
How far must pax be from aircraft during hot refueling?
50’
Where shall the ramp be during refueling?
Level. Personnel door shall remain open too.
What communications requirements are there during refueling?
1 aircrew on ICS and at station with 2 way comms with pilot/copilot
What are the fuel minimums?
SHALL plan to land with NATOPS mins
Who SHALL you contact prior to shutdown?
MX control for maintenance requirements
Can you start/shutdown engines/APP while personnel are under the aircraft

Post Flight walkaround that should include a min of: M/R hub, T/R hub, HYD components, and all three engines.
What are the prerequisites for shipboard operations?
- Review appropriate shipboard procedures. 2. Complete a lecture syllabus as specified by LHA/LHD/MCS NATOPS to include: a. Launch/land procedures and signals b. Aircraft control doctrine/procedures c. emergency procedure particular to ship d. Procedure for night, NVG, IFR flight e. Landing Aids f. Comms g. Flight deck configuration/landing h. Water survival/rescue
How much lightly reflective colored tape can be applied to your helmet when in the ship?
30% provided white tape is visible from all directions.; Helmet covers shall not be worn for any shipboard or maritime operations
When shall the APP be on and crews strapped in (Shipboard)?
30 minutes prior to launch
When can you preflight above a sponson and what is required?(Shipboard)
Anytime when there is NOT an aircraft in the adjacent spot launching/landing. A helmet or cranial and flotation equipment shall be worn
What color lights can you use at night? (Shipboard)
During night flight ops periods no white or red lights. After white lights can be used aft of bridge. Blue and green are acceptable.
What is required to move an aircraft on the deck?
A brake rider. They will ensure: 1. Cockpit windows are open 2. Cranial and float coat is on 3. Seat belt shoulder harness is fastened 4. Wheel brakes test with APP up 5. Comply with director’s signals
Walk through engine starting procedures (shipboard)
Pilots signal LSE when ready for APP. -LSE must signal clearance from PriFly before APP start -Radios set to Land/launch freq as soon as practical -Blade spread under LSE supervision -Pilot request clearance to start egines from LSE. -PriFly passes wind information before engine start. -LSE relays engine start cleareance from PriFly -Squadron tower flower determines winds are in rotor engagement limits -Deck made amber to give engage signal
What are the requirements before rotor engagement? (shipboard)
- Tie down chains configured appropriately. 2. Flight deck clear of unnecessary personnel 3. Relative wind is within limits 4. Ship is not in a turn
What are the high wind precautions on the ship?
45-60kts: Main and Aux tanks full, blades folded, struts deflated, pylon spread. Over 60kts: Parked into wind, blades removed, gust lock engaged, pylon spread. Over 100kts: Aircraft into the hangar deck
What are the equipment requirements for the ship for night time ops?
- 2 way UHF. 2. Flight deck blue perimeter lights 3. Deck edge lights. 4. Overhead floodlights. 5. Deck lights for helicopter spots in use
Walk through takeoff and recovery procedures (Shipboard)
- SHALL get HIGE power and instrument check. 2. Once clear of deck edge PAC gives PriFly ‘Ops Normal’ 2. PNAC shall engage Bar Alt reporting so 3. In Charlie pattern, PNAC reports altitudes and airspeeds. On final PNAC secures BarALt reporting so. 4. PNAC remain cognizent of lighting condition
What are the requried check in items with the Helicopter direction Center (HDC)?
- Callsign. 2. Position (relative to ship) 3. Altitude 4. Fuel State (Hours to splash) 5. Souls
What information will the HDC(????) respond back with?
- Expected approach time (As req). 2. Marshall instructions (as Reg) 3. Vectors (as req) 4. Estimated recovery time 5. Altimeter, winds, weather, BRC 6. Time 7. Other info 8. If directed by Prifly, Delta/Charlie pattern instructions
What are the PAX safety considerations (Shipboard)?
Seat belts and LPUs from takeoff to landing. Crainials/flight helmets or combat helmets with ear protection. Life raft spaces for all pax
What are the SAr requirements during troop transport? *At anchor
At Anchor. Day- Safety boat in water or SAR helo in condition 1 standby/airborne
What are the SAR requirements during troop transport? Underway
Day-Plane guard ship in position or SAR equipped helo airborne Night- SAR helo with auto hover condition 1 standby/airborne. OR plane guard ship and non-SAR equipped helo airborne or condition 1 standby with life rafts
What are PriFly support “Watch Dog”’s responsibilities?
Verify winds are in limits. -Assist airboss durning emergencies -Monitor wx and make recommendations to Opso, XO, or CO for marginal or no moon launches -Laise with ODO, MX, and Air Boss on FCF spotting -Monitor pattern for unsafe tendencies
When can you execute sim single engine failure procedures during shipboard procedures?
Shall not during the approach, landing, takeoff or departure procedures. Pilots shall ensure they are at a min of 1000’ AGL
Can AFCS be secured during shipboard operations?
Yes, not during approach, landing, takeoff or departure
Can compound simulated emergencies involving securing multiple systems be done? (Shipboard)

Where do MEDEVACs go for NH Pendleton, NH San Diego, MCAGCC 29 Palms?
NH Pendleton: Ctc LONGRIFLE go to NFG base ops. NH San Diego: 53 are not authorized at Balboa. Go to NASNI or NKX MCAGCC: Ctc BEARMAT or 29 palms tower 10 minute prior go to LZ 10 or at tower at SELF
What must you have during an aerial gunnery shoot?
Positive ICS between HAC, gunner, instructor, and safety observer before loading
Where and when will weapons be armed?
Only in the target area and only on the HAC’s command.
What is required on non-tactical gun shoot prior to live fire?
A dry run to check impact area for obstructions and hazards. (Cold pass)

ANYONE
What is required prior to leaving the range for guns?
Senior gunner or instructor will check all weapons clear and safe.
Is 50 cal ammo HERO safe?
Yes
What is HERO safe
Can guns be removed and replaced in flight?
Only the window guns. Should be done on deck though. Tail gun SHALL NOT be removed in flight.
Can you fuel the with ordanace on board?
Yes. Loading/downloading and fueling should be done as separate evolution.; Shall ensure ALE-47 is mechanically and electronically safe/off before refueling.
