(CNAF 5.1.1) When shall position lights be displayed?
- during the period 30 minutes before official sunset until 30 minutes after official sunrise or
- at any time when the prevailing visibility as seen from the cockpit is less than 3 statute miles
(CNAF 5.1.1.2) When shall anti-collision lights be used?
They shall be used immediately before engine start and at all times when the aircraft engine(s) is in operation, except when the use of such lights adversely affects ground operations (i.e., arming and dearming, refueling operations, etc.)
(CNAF 5.1.1.2) When can you turn off Anti-Collison lights?
They may be turned off during flight through clouds when the rotating light reflects into the cockpit

Not as a division but you can as a section.

(CNAF) Can a section takeoff on an instrument departure?
Yes, so long as the weather (Ceiling and Vis) is at or above the published circling mins for the runway in use. In the event a circling approach is not authorized, ceiling and visibility must be at least 1,000 and 3 SM
(CNAF 5.2.3b) For see and avoid, what SHALL you request especially when flying through high density traffic areas?
Where available, radar advisory service shall be requested especially when VFR flight is required through high‐density traffic areas.
(CNAF 5.2.5) You’re in flight and encounter conditions that preclude compliance with visual flight rules. What shall you do?
- Alter route to remain VFR
- Remain VFR until a change in flight plan is filed and IFR clearance obtained
- Remain VFR and land at a suitable alternate

A. Uncontrolled Airspace

b. In controlled Airspace

(CNAF 5.3.2.1) Required Instrument Flight Equipment
a. The Pitot heater and all vacuum pressure or electrical sources for the pilot flight instruments must operate satisfactorily
b. A/C shall be equipped with the following instruments:
1. Airspeed
2. Altimeter
3. Attitude Indicator
4. Turn and slip indicator
5. Clock with hour, min, and sweeping second pointer or digital readout
6. Heading indicator
7. VSI
8. Magnetic compass with current calibration card
c. Equipped with de-icing or icing control equipment for sustained or continuous ops in know or forecasted icing condition
d. Nav lights must operate
(CNAF 5.3.4.1) What are your takeoff mins?
a. Standard Instrument Rating- For RWY in use 1. NPA - pub min, but NLT 300-1
2. PA - pub mins, but NLT 200-1/2
(CNAF 5.3.5.1) Your shooting a straight in what vis should you use to determine if the approach use weather criteria?
RVR if available
(CNAF 5.3.5.1) They switched the runway on you and now you need to circle to land. Same or different vis requirement?
Use Prevailing Vis; Same but different
(CNAF 5.3.5.1) You go to shoot an approach into KNKX and the mins are 500-1; what is the lowest vis that is “legal”?
1/2; Helos required vis min may be reduced to 1/2 the pub vis min for CAT A(so you need to be below 90KIAS), but in no case NLT 1/4 sm
Your coming back over the hill with you and your best bud. Weather is calling below mins; Can you still shoot an approach?
Yes; When weather is at or below published mins for the approach to be conducted, an approach shall not be commenced in multipiloted a/c unless it has the cabaility to proceed to a suitable alternate in the event of a missed approach.
(CNAF) When shall a missed approach be executed when executing a precision approach?
A missed approach shall be executed immediately upon reaching the decision height unless the runway environment is in sight and a safe landing can be made
