What is the mission of the HMH?
(T&R) The mission of HMH is to support the MAGTF commander by providing assault support transport of heavy equipment, combat troops, and supplies, day or night under all weather conditions during expeditionary, joint, and combined operations.
CH-53 Performance:
Designed to carry 32,000 lbs of cargo at a cruise speed of at least 100KIAS to a range of 50 NM on a sea level tropical day. At the Destination, the helicopter can hover for 5 minutes, release its cargo, return 50NM without payload at speed for best range, and have 20 minutes of fuel in reserve.
Definition of a HAC
The HAC is ultimately responsible for mission accomplishment. The HAC must demonstrate leadership traits and qualities that enable an aircraft to be flown with minimal guidance, as well as utilize and employ the crew and weapons systems to facilitate mission accomplishment.

To be qualified as a HAC, NATOPS manual shall establish designation:
What is required?
The HAC shall have completed all of the req for and posses to an advanced degree, the knowledge, proficiency and capabilities of a H2P. The shall further met the requirements set forth in detail in CNAF 3710.7. In addition, the HAC shall satisfactorily complete the unit HAC flight.
What are the prereqs for HAC per CNAF 3710.7?
To be qualified as as a HAC, the NATOPS shall establish the designation particular to model, and an individual shall:
- Have completed the requirements for and posses to an advanced degree the knowledge, proficiency and capabilities of a second pilot.
- Have a min of 500 total flight hours
3) Have 150 hours rotary wing
4) Have the pilot hours in class and model required by the CO or higher authority and demonstrate the proficiency and judgement required to ensure the successful accomplishment of the unit missions.
5) Demonstrate the ability to train the officers and enlisted members of the crew.
6) Demonstrate the qualities of leadership required to conduct advanced base or detachment unit ops as OIC when such a duty is required as part of the units mission.
HAC PreReq per the T&R:
- NSQ LLL
- Core and Mission skills complete
- 450 total hours to start
- Recommended by the STAN board
- 500 total hours for designation
