What’s a closed skill?
A skill where the environment is stable (e.g. penalty)
What’s open skill?
A skill where the environment isn’t stable (e.g. making a rugby tackle)
What’s a simple skill?
A skill that’s easy for an athlete and doesn’t require much concentration
What’s a complex skill?
A skill that is difficult for an athlete and requires their full concentration
What’s a low organisation skill?
A skill that doesnt need the athletes full concentration
What’s a high organisation skill?
A skill that has lots of sections that are hard to separate (E,G. backflips)
What’s massed practice?
A practice where the skill is practised until its been fully learned
What’s a disturbed practice ?
Practice where the skill is practiced over several sessions or including rests (for less experienced athletes)
What’s a fixed practice?
Practice where the skill is practiced over and over until perfection
What’s a variable practice?
A practice where the skill is done in a different variety of different situations
What’s visual guidance?
When you are shown how to do a skill
What’s verbal guidance?
When you are told how to a skill
What’s manual guidance?
Guidance where the coach physically moves the athlete in order to the correct movement
what’s mechanical guidance?
Guidance where a machine is used to correct the athletes movement
What’s intrinsic feedback?
Feedback given by the athlete to themselves
what’s extrinsic feedback?
feedback given by someone else (e.g. coach, teammate) to the athlete
What’s concurrent feedback?
feedback given during the event
What’s terminal feedback
Feedback given after the event
