Wrist Cock Up or Volar Wrist Cock Up Splint does…

A

Volar means the palm of your hand side. It is used for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The splint should be “cocked up” with 15-20 degrees of extension at the wrist to keep the carpal tunnel open.

Long Opponens Splint does…

A

Can be long or short/palmar based. Used for “Skier’s thumb” & Arthritis of CMC joint. The purpose of the long one is to immobilize the thumb and provide support. There are several uses: De Quervain’s being the first thing that comes to mind, but also various over use injuries/tendonitis, fractures, dislocations, sprains/ligament injuries.

is used to treat Mallet Finger…must be careful when removing these because you have to keep the PIP completely extended….you must lay finger/hand on table, remove it and replace it without lifting hand off of table ….you have to slide it on to prevent pip from flexing.
