15
Q

Where does the corticospinal tract travel?

A

From cortex, converge and descend through the internal capsule.
The lateral corticospinal tract decussate in the medulla and travel down spinal cord to terminate in ventral horn and synapse to lower motor neurons.
The anterior cortical spinal tract remains ipsilateral descending into spinal cord. Decussate and terminate in ventral horn of cervical and upper thoracic segmental levels.

Knee jerk
(L3-4 kick the door)

18
Q

What reflex does C5/6 supply?

A

Biceps and brachioradialis

(C5-6 pick up sticks)

19

A

Big toe jerk

21
Q

What neurological condition is a result of a spinal cord hemisection?

A

Brown-Sequard Syndrome

22
Q

True or false: the corticospinal tract and the DCML tracts decussate in the medulla

A

True

23
Q

True or false: the spinothalamic tract (carrying pain and temperature) decussates in the medulla

A

False
Decussates 1-2 spinal levels above dorsal entry

24
Q

True or false: Brown-Sequard syndrome results in ipsilateral motor weakness

A

True

25
Q

True or false: Brown-Sequard syndrome results in ipsilateral dysfunction of pain and temperature sensation

A

False
Contralateral due to spinothalamic tract decussating in spinal cord

26
Q

True or false: Brown-Sequard syndrome results in ipsilateral dysfunction of fine touch, vibration and proprioception

A

True
