SP7c Electric fields Flashcards
What is an electric field?
the volume of space around a charged object, in which another charged object can experience a force.
What can an electric field do?
attract or repel object with an electric charge (it can also attract objects to an object with no overall charge)
Do field lines go away or towards a positive charge?
away.
Do filed lines go away or towards a negative charge?
towards.
What do field lines not do, do and show?
.they never cross
.always run from positive to negative or outwards if there is only one object
.show the strength of the field by how close they are
When an object loses or gains an electron what does it acquire and what does that create?
it acquires a net electric charges which creates an electric field around the object.
What is a uniform electric field?
a field in which the value of field strength is the same at all points.
