intentional injury or illness to get medical attentions and sympathy

they want attention and sympathy..primary internal gain
is factitious disorder always on ones self?
no it can be by proxy
what is factitious disorder by proxy?
illness in child or elder inflicted by the caregiver to assume sick role by proxy…this is abuse
what is malingering?
intentional illness/injury or faking of illness to obtain secondary external gain
what is motivation for malingering?
intentional to get secondary external resources like a place to stay (hospital) or to leave work
is the motivation known in factitious disorders?
no it is not
what is dissociative amnesia?
inability to recall important identifying information
when does dissociative amnesia generally occur?
following stress or trauma
what can accompany dissociative amnesia?
dissociative fugue
what is dissociative fugue?
when one travels from own home to try and discover the info they have lost in dissociative amnesia

presence of 2 or more personalities and person can switch between the two
what is depersonalization disorder?
persistent feelings of detachment from ones body thoughts and action

detachment from ones environment…feeling the world around you is not real
