28-01 CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR ACTIVATION
What are potential sources of carbon monoxide?
A
- car running in attached garage
- BBQ in an enclosed area
- gas or wood burning fireplace
- blocked chimney opening
- portable heater
- inproperly installed range or cook-top vent
- corroded or disconnected water heater vent pipe
- cracked heat exchanger in furnace
- leaking chimney pipe or flue

28-03 NATURAL GAS EMERGENCIES
Procedure for natural gas call
A
- park up-wind
- confirm natural gas leak
- ensure gas company is notified
- appropriate PPE
- isolate/evacuate/protect in place person in danger
- eliminate open sources of ignition
- consider outside shut off
- ensure escaping gas does not enter other buildings]
- large scale consider hazmat team
10 use gas detector to determine concentrations - ventilate naturally or with intrinsically safe equipmetn
- do not re-open closed gas shut off valve
- personnel shall work in coordination with gas technician
- do not attempt to extinguish gas fire unless the is a threat to life
- avoid entering excavations
- avoid stopping gas leak on a plastic pipe
- do not spray water on natural gas pipe
