According to SOG 1-03 the live fire instructor in charge shall (12)
- Inspect the life fire training building for any possible damage
- Note any deficiencies or damage, document and forward to the division chief of training.
- Notify Communications and Chrysler. If conditions are such that smoke will not quickly dissipate notify division of A&M, works and transport, Chrysler assembly plant security desk, and region of peen waste transfer station so they can take actions to prevent smoke from enering their buildings
- Postpone any life fire training if the wind is blowing directly to the north.
- Ensure participants in live fire exercises are properly trained.
- Conduct pre-burn briefing session for all participants
- Ensure all participants conduct a walk-through of the structure
- Be a qualified live fire instructor.
- Determine the number of training attack lines and back up lines that are necessary.
- Assign the following personnel:
A. LIve fire safety officer
B. One instructor/supervisor to each functional crew
entering the structure. No more than 5 students.
C. One Instructor/supervisor to the back up line
along with RIT
D. Entry Control/Accountability Person
F. Ignition Officer - Decide when to ignite the training fire in coordination with the live fire safety officer
- Provide for rest and rehabilitation of participants.

- Have the authority to intervene and control any aspect of the operation, when in their judgment, a potential or actual danger, accident, or unsafe condition exists
- Prevent unsafe acts and eliminate unsafe conditions
- Ensure PPE is appropriately donned and sused
- Provide for the safety of all personnel on scene
- Assist the ignition office
- Not be assigned other duties that interfere with safety responsibilities.

- Conduct walk-through with affected parties after deemed safe to do so
- Distribute and explain “After the Fire” brochure
- Provide blankets and shelter.
