What is social influence?
The ways in which a person’s behaviour can be affected by the presence of others
What is social cognition?
The ways in which people think about other people
What is social interaction?
The positive and negative aspects of people relating to others
What are the three types of social influence?
1) Compliance- going along with the majority even though we privately do not agree. e.g. rock music
What are the three types of social influence?
2) Internalisation- Believe and adapt that in your mind. e.g. Feeling healthy to eat vegan as told by others

3) Identification- Temporarily adopting the behaviours of a role model or group. e.g. You’re only identify
What is obedience?
Following orders of an authority figure. e.g. Teachers, parents or someone older than us.
What is conformity?
A norm ( normal) follows what the majority of people are doing. eg. lining up
Normative social influence?
Where we follow the group norm because we want to be accepted and not rejected.
What is informational social influence?
Conformity ( standards), we do not know how to behave; others provide this information so we adopt their beliefs and behaviours.
What is Deindividuation?
Means loss of personal self-awareness and responsibility as a result of being in a group. e.g. feel less identifiable and less responsible for our actions
What is compliance?
Going along with the majority even though we privately do not agree
What is the authority figure?
Someone with more power and control than another.
What is a Bystander effect?
Called bystander apathy( don’t care), when we fail to help another in need. e.g. He’ll be okay…
