Q

What do audience and co actors cause

A

They cause an increase in arousal due to their presence but are passive as they are not involved in the event.

This could cause the dominant response
Which leads to facilitation for experts

But inhibition for novices

Q

How to prevent social inhibition

A

Getting the players familiar with playing in front of a crowd-
train with a distraction so the team get used to it. Gradually building up the amount of audience the players have
and the importance of the people watching

■ Gradually introducing evaluation-
the level of assessment should build up gradually. A team may have informal chats before progressing to statistical
analysis. Support from other players and peers may help at this stage

■ Improving focus and concentration-
players could focus on the key information not the audience so they focus in relevant information

■ Lower Arousal Levels-
Imagery, Visualisation and other stress management techniques

■ Decrease the Importance of an Event
■ Peer Support Groups

Q

What is evaluation Apprehension- Fear of being judged.

A

The Negative influence of others if the performer feels they are being watched

High arousal could be created by being watched by important/ expert people

If you are unconfident you may also feel high arousal

This could be caused by if:
The audience is known to us
The audience is critical
The audience contains expert people
We lack in confidence
