SOC5 - Principals Of Training Flashcards
How do you calculate your maximum heart rate?
220bpm - your age (in gcse its normally 16)
What are the 4 Principles of Training?
S - specicifity
P - progressive overload
I - individual needs
F - FITT (frequency, intensity, time type)
What is the definition of specicifity?
Matching training to the specific requirements of an activity
What is an example of why a certain sportsperson might need specificity in their training?
Every sport has its own specialist needs; swimmers and footballer obviously train in different ways
What is Progressive Overload?
Gradually increasing the amount of overload so as to gain fitness without the risk of injury
What threshold of training are you targeting when using progressive overload?
Target the area between the minimum and
maximum threshold of training, which is called.
What is the definition of individual needs?
Matching training to the requirements of
an individual.
Why might an athlete develop their training plan to account for their individual needs?
Athletes starting a programme with very low lovels
of fitness should not follow the programme of someone who has been training for a long. They may get injured or it may be default resulting in them giving up
