Q

What are peptide hormones?

18
Q

A

Increase muscle growth, assist in recovery from injury and heavy training sessions. All the body to carry extra oxygen, and disperse waste products and lactic acid.

19
Q

What are the side effects of peptide hormones?

A

Blood becomes thicker, which makes it more difficult to pass through the small capillaries and increases the risk of heart attack or stroke.

20
Q

What are growth hormones?

A

Is used to increase their muscles development (very similar to steroids)

21
Q

What are the benefits of growth hormones?

A

Increases muscle growth (strength and size). Not as many side effects as steroids.

22
Q

What are side effects of growth hormones?

A

Minimal side effects, can be detected by a blood test
and not in your urine.

23
Q

What are stimulants?

A

drugs that have an effect on the central nervous system, such as/ or physical alertness.

24
Q

What are the benefits of stimulants?

A

Increase alertness, enabling people to think more by
stimulating the central nervous system. Overcome tiredness. Reduce the effects of lactic acid on muscles.

25
Q

What are the side effects of stimulants?

A

insomnia, irregular/ increased heart beat, high blood pressure and addiction.

26
Q

What is blood doping?

A

Blood doping involves boosting the number of red blood cells in the bloodstream in order to improve your performance. Because red blood cells carry oxygen to the muscles, having a higher concentration of these cells in your blood can improve your VO, max (your aerobic capacity) and so increase your endurance.

27
Q

A

• Anabolic steroids
• Beta blockers
• Diuretics
• Narcotics/analgesics
• Peptide hormones
• Growth hormones
• Stimulants
