What does PAR-Q stand for
(Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire)
What is a PAR-G?
A self screening tool that can be used by anyone who is planning to start an exercise or training routine
What is PAR-Q designed for?
It is designed to identify the small amount of adults for
whom physical activity may not be appropriate
Why do we warm up?
-prepare the muscles
-prepare the joints
-prepare the mind
-prevent injury
-prepare the ligaments
-prepare the cardiovascular system
What are three phases of warm-up?
-Cardiovascular(pulse raisor)
-stretching
-Sports specific
How long does the cardiovascular warm up phase?
10-15 minutes depending on the person/activity.
What are two types of stretching?
Static
Dynamic
What does SMART stand for in SMART goals?
-Specific
-Measurable
-Achievable
-Realistic
-Time bound
What does specific mean?
Means exactly knowing what the goal is. It may include a series of steps towards the overall goal
What does Measurable mean?
Means it will be to know when goals are achieved
What does achievable mean?
Goals must be attainable
What does realistic goals mean?
A goal may well be achievable in practice but are there other reasons that may hinder the completion of that goal.
What is a time bound
Does the goal have an end point
If not it is easy to put off achieving indefinetly
The PEP you will undertake will be over 6 weeks.
What is an example of a smart goals?
In the next 6 weeks i want to be able to run 5km in under 20 minutes
