Planes
There are three different planes used to describe movement in the body,
they’re theoretical divsions of the body
• The Sagittal plane divides the body from top to bottom, (vertically),
resulting in a left side and a right side - flexion and extension
• The Frontal plane also divides the body from top to bottom (vertically), but
front and back sections - adduction and abduction
• The Transverse plane divides the body across the middle (horizontally),
giving a top section (also known as ‘superior’) and a bottom section
(‘inferior) - rotation
