- Encourage autonomy & self appraisal.
- Provide input into plans initiated by employee
- Monitor performance discretely (indirect supervision)
- Delegate tasks to them

- Leader will encourage input
- Probe through questions & actively listen
- Provide praise and build confidence
- Encourage decision making
- Resolve performance issues

- High degree of manager direction but person has confidence and is willing
- Relationship behaviour - take time to explanation the why, not just the what
- Appropriate when lacking in skills & knowledge but willing and confident
