Simple Organs: Membranes Flashcards

1
Q

Membranes Overview

A
  • Simplest Organs
  • Only 2 types
  • Consist of epithelium ATTACHED to CT (with basement membrane BETWEEN)

Q

Mucous Membranes (mucosa)

A

-Line cavities which open directly to the body exterior
-2 Layers:
1- Epithelial layer (avascular) varies from simple squamous to pseudostratified
2- CT ( loose areolar - vascular) named the LAMINA PROPRIA, nourishes epithelial cells

Q

Serous Membranes (serosa)

A
  • Line closed cavities (covers the organs in said cavities)
-double membranes - each composed of epithelial layers next to serous cavity and CTs (areolar):
1 -Parietal Layer - against cavity wall
    2- Visceral Layer- against organ
