Pain along sensory distribution of a nerve root
-Stabbing, sharp, well demarcated
Myogenous Pain pattern
Referral withing muscular or fascial tissue
- Trigger points within the muscle will refer pain to a distant site.
- Myofascial
Scleratogenous pain pattern
Pain referred from somatic structures (cartilage, ligament, joint capsule or bone)
- Typically will not follow dermatome
- Dull, achy, diffuse, difficult to pinpoint.
Referred to right shoulder, inferior scapula
Right Lung, Liver, Gallbladder
Referred to left shoulder
Left lung, stomach, spleen
Referred to Jaw, neck, left shoulder, arm
Heart
Referred to either shoulder
Diaphragm
Referred to flank
