Shears
Empty can test/full can
Hawkins impingement

Hornblowers test
Empty can test
Isolate the supraspinatus muscle
Done by having shoulder 90’ abducted, full probation of hands as if emptying a can and apply resistance. If pain-positive
Hawkins impingement test
Have shoulder flexion at 90’ with elbow flexed to 90’ then internally rotate arm.
If positive means impingement of structures between the greater tubercule of the humerus and the coracohumeral ligament
(Supraspinatus muscle, teres minor and infraspinatus)
Hornblower test
Have pt position arms in front as if blowing a horn.
If noticeable drop ? Tres minor/ infraspinatus insufficiently.
Also positive if resistance is applied and causes pain
Shear test
Cup hands over shoulder with one hand on clavicle and other over scapular. Apply pressure. If positive ? Issues with acromioclavicular joint/ligaments
