Sinusitis
Inflammation or infection of sinus passages due to increase in mucus and narrowing of passages.
Fever, Nasal congestion, positional headache
Septal haematoma
Development of haematoma between septal cartilage and overlying mucoperichondrium
Bleeding after Nasal trauma, brusing, poor air entry
Foreign body
Any suspicion that a person has been attempting to put a FB in the nose or ear.
Nose. Poor Nasal breathing, congestion, discomfort
Ear. Pain, irritation , impaired hearing
Cerumen impaction
Build up of cerumen resulting in partial or full obstruction
Tinnitus, otalgia, impaired hearing
Otitis medias
Infection of Tympanic membrane
Fever, impaired hearing, otalgia
Ramsay hunt syndrome
A shingles outbreak that affects the facial nerve, occurs in patients with history of chicken pox
Facial paralysis, otalgia, vertigo
Otitis externa
Infection or inflammation of external ear canal
Otalgia, discharge from ear, itching of ear
Perforated Tympanic memebrane
Puncture of tympanic membrane weather from internal/external causes
Vertigo, otalgia, ear discharge
Mastoiditis
Bacterial infection that affects the mastoid bone behind the ear
Inflammation behind ear, otalgia, impaired hearing
Epistaxis- types
Anterior, normally trauma cause, can be seen
Posterior, normally pathologically caused, felt running down back of throat with minimal visualisation
