Shoulder Complex Ligaments Flashcards
Attachments of trapezoid ligament
Coracoid process to trapezoid line of clavicle
Attachments of conoid ligament
Coracoid process to conoid tubercle of clavicle
Attachments of acromioclavicular ligament
superior aspect of acromial end of the clavicle to adjacent acromion
Attachments of coracoacromial ligament
lateral border of coracoid process to acromion adjacent to clavicular articulation
Attachments of coracohumeral ligament
base of coracoid process to anterior aspect of greater tubercle
Attachments of costoclavicular ligament
superior aspect of cartilage of first rib to undersurface of the clavicle
Attachments of superior transverse scapular ligament
base of coracoid process to the medial edge of the scapular notch
Attachments of glenoid capsule
circumference of glenoid cavity to anatomical neck of humerus
Attachments of glenohumeral ligaments
upper part of medial margin of glenoid cavity to lesser tubercle & anatomical neck
Function of coracoclavicular ligaments
stabilizes acromioclavicular joint limiting medial displacement
protraction and elevation of clavicle on the scapula
Function of acromioclavicular ligament
stabilizes AC joint, resists superior motion of clavicle
Function of coracoacromial ligament
prevents superior displacement of the humeral head by forming the coracoacromial arch
Function of coracohumeral ligament
reinforces superoanterior aspects of glenohumeral joint capsule
Function of costoclavicular ligament
stabilizes sternoclavicular joint, limiting elevation of clavicle
Function of superior transverse scapular ligament
closes off the suprascapular notch
