What is specific heat capacity?
A
The amount of energy required to increase the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1 degree.

Set up
A
Get a block of each metal
Wrap the insulation around the block
Place the heater in the larger hole, remembering to connect it with the ammeter, voltmeter and power pack
Place the thermometer in some water in the other hole

Test
A
Set the power pack to 12V and turn on
Record the readings on the ammeter and voltmeter readings
Record the temperature every 60 seconds
Repeat with other materials

A
Power=potential difference x current
Work done=power x energy transferred
SHC= mass x energy x temperature change
