Q

Setting up the air track

A

Under the table, put a vacuum cleaner on blow
At one end of the table, put a glider on top of string going across
At the other end, put a bench pulley with weights off the end of the table
Attach two light gates inside of the ends

Q

Method

A

Attach the full weight stack and turn on the data logger
Turn on the vacuum cleaner if the glider is in position, do this twice and once more if the readings aren’t similar. Record your results and work out the mean of all results that aren’t anomalous
Repeat the experiment, removing 0.2N every time and adding it to the glider

Q

Varying mass method

A

Attach a 1N weight stack to the end and a 100g stack to the glider.
Switch on the data logger when the glider is in position. Repeat this twice, and again if necessary. Record your results and record the mean without anomalies.
Remove 2 weights from the glider and repeat.
