Add 40cm3 Sulfuric acid to a 100cm3 beaker
Heat gently until it is almost boiling and stop the Bunsen burner
Add copper oxide to excess with a spatula and keep stirring until it doesn’t dissolve

Set up a filter funnel and paper over a conical flask

Filter in the solution to remove excess copper oxide

Add the contents to an evaporating basin
Put it on top of 250cm3 boiling water
Stop at the first sign of crystals
Leave for 48 hours
