candles are lit praying the shabbat pray by the women of household. must pray and close eyes. shows that the meal is sacred.
Challah loaf
special bread represents the 2 tablets of the 10 commandments. father blesses bread. dipped and blessed. attired in clothes and olive.
Kiddush cup
literally, “sanctification,” is a blessing recited over wine or grape juice to sanctify the Shabbat and Jewish holidays. Additionally, the word refers to a small repast held on Shabbat or festival mornings after the prayer services and before the meal.
