What is septic shock?
A
(Sepsis) Organ dysfunction caused by dysregulated host response to infection
(Septic shock) Sepsis + lactate >2mmol/L or vaopressers to maintain MAP >65mmHg

What are the clinical features of septic shock?
A
Can be febrile or hypothermic Flushed, warm skin Bounding pulse, tachycardia Hypotension with a wide pulse pressure Signs of infection (i.e. productive cough, offensive wound)

How is septic shock diagnosed?
A
(Blood testts) Blood gas for lactate, blood culture, CRP, FBC, LFT, clotting screen
Basic observations
ECG
Urine dipstick and output

What is the treatment for septic shock
A
Antibiotics
Fluid
Oxygen
