Pathophysiology of septic arthritis?
A
Joint inflammation caused by bacterial infection
The bacteria can get to joint from blood or by openning in skin near the joint
Immune response happens as bacteria is detected causing white blood cells to come to joint to kill bacteria causing increased blood to joint + inflammation
The bacteria in this time starts to destroy the joint.

Diagnosis of septic athritis?
A
Joint aspiration of syvonial fluid is taken from joint:
- will show increase white blood cells
- Positive culture ( staphylcoccus aurres)
X-ray, ultrasound, CT
-These can show erosion of joints

Treatments of septic arthritis?
A
Antibiotics
NSAIDS
