Definition of pagets disease?
A
Disorder with excessive bone remodelling

What are the three steps of pagets disease?
A
Lytic phase: Osteoclast agressivly demineralising the bone
Mixed phase: Rapid, disorganised proliferation of new bone tissue by osteoblasts
Blastic/ sclerotic phase: New bone formation exceeds reabsorption and structurally disorganised and weaker bone is formed.

Symptoms of pagets disease?
A
- 60-80% Asymptomatic
- Bone pain
- Joint pain
- Skull changes
- Deafness (due to compression of 8
cranial nerve) - Vision loss

Diagnosis of pagets disease?
A
Bloods:
- Increased ALP
- Normal Calcium
- Normal Phosphate
X-ray:
- Show lesions
- Osteoarthritis

Treatments of pagets disease?
A
First line- Bisphosphonates
Nsaids
