Describe three systemic changes in response to sepsis
increased HR, temp >38 or <36, resp rate >20, WCC >12 or <4
Name three bacteria which must be empirically covered for when using the sepsis six criteria if source is unknown? Which antibiotics are used in these cases?
s. aureus- flucloxacillin,
MRSA- vancomycin and gentamycin
strep- clindamycin
Name two scoring systems in sepsis
SIRS
qSOFA
SIRS criteria?
Temp >38°C (100.4°F) or < 36°C (96.8°F)
Heart rate > 90
Respiratory rate > 20 or PaCO₂ < 32 mm Hg
WBC > 12,000/mm³, < 4,000/mm³, or > 10% bands
