renal failure, shock, pulmonary oedema, cerebral malaria, severe anaemia, parasitaemia , lactic acidosis, hypoglycaemia, DIC
What is the treatment for malaria?
dual therapy- quinine and doxicycline
What chemoprophylaxis is available for malaria?
- Mefloquine- once weekly 2. Doxycicline- daily 3. Malarone
One side effect of mefloquine?
psychiatriac SE- vivid dreams
SE of doxycycline?
photosensitisation

Blood films FBC Clotting Glucose ABG U+Es Urinalysis

Flu-like prodrome (headache, myalgia, malaise)
