Q

6 sources of self efficacy

A
  1. performance accomplishments
    - can have a positive or negative effect on self efficacy depending on the performance
  2. vicarious experiences
    - demonstrating or modelling (4 stage process) during learning. modelling effectiveness depends on the type of model, eg. age or gender, skill levels and similarly
  3. verbal persuasion
    - can be internal or external. effectiveness depends on how trusted/how valued to person is. likely to have short term impact
  4. perceptions of their physiological state (direction)
    - if state associated with poor performance and incompetence = lower self efficacy (vice versa)
    5.imaginal experiences
    - of themselves or others performing effectively/ineffectively in that situation. if effective can be beneficial, vice versa
  5. emotional states-
    - feeling in the right state of mind. if emotions/mood is associated with poor performance and incompetence, lower self efficacy (vice versa)
    - imaginal experiences - seeing and feeling themself be successful in a situation.
