What is self-awareness?

when an individual becomes aware of personal and other’s emotions and then modulates those emotions to effectively act during a challenging situation.
Why is self-awareness essential?
developing a therapeutic relationship, thereby promoting open, honest and genuine healthcare professionals.
How do paramedics use self-awareness?
adapt to and accommodate the patients emotion and overcome communication barriers and resolve conflict.

know to self or others: this area is most productive.
What are the 3 basic human relationship needs?
to be accepted and valued, the need to be in control and the need for affection and affirmation.
What is a blind spot?
known by others and not by self: ask for feedback to increase self-awareness.
What is a hidden area?
known by self but not by others: disclose relevant information/feelings.

acting out, avoidance, denial and projection.
What is the unknown?
unknown by self and others: typically, in younger people/less life experience.

anticipation compensation, displacement, humour, isolation of affect and rationalization.
