What is mental health?
a state of mental wellbeing that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well and contribute to their community.
What is mental health disorder?
characterized by a clinically significant disturbance in an individual’s cognition emotional regulation or behaviour.
Examples of talking therapies
CBT, DBT, Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, interpersonal therapy, guided self-help, trauma focused CBT.
Some common medications are?
antipsychotics, sleep aids, beta-blockers and lithium, sodium and valproate.
What are some self-medications?
herbal remedies, recreational drugs, alcohol and psilocybin.
What is the grounding technique?
a technique that aims to return you back from negative, challenging emotions to the present.
What are the 5P’S OF MH history take?
presenting, precipitating, predisposing, perpetuating, protective.
What are some help phone lines?
