Whats the treatment for seizures in paeds?

A

Medium child (5-11) = 2.5 - 5 mg IM

Small child (1-4) = 2.5mg IM

Small & large infant (under 12 months)= 1 mg IM

Newborn = 0.5mg IM

  • Repeat same dose once after 10 mins

A
  1. elderly/frail
  2. CNS depressant effects are enhanced in thepresence of narcotics and other tranquilisers
  3. can cause severe resp depression in pts with copd
  4. pts with myasthenia gravis
