how do you treat burns in adults?
A
If patient over 15 with >15% TBSA:
Normal saline= %TBSA x weight
Administered over 2 hours
If patient 12-15
Normal saline = 3x TBSA% x weight
Given over 24 hours
Half in first 8 hours

What do you do with burns before NS?
A
Cool in running water for 20 mins
elevate if possible
Dress in cling wrap

What is the rule of 9’s with adult burns?
A
head = 9% Torso = 18% (abdo and chest) Back = 18% Arm = 9% in total circumference each Leg = 18% in total circumference each Groin = 1%
