partial: in local areas of brain
General: in generalized/bilat areas of brain
2 types of partial seizures?
simple: a couple seconds/ no altered consciousness
Complex: Last 2-4 mins with altered consciousness. can be confused or random behaviors
What are the 4 types of partial seizures?
autonomic
Emotional
Motor
Sensory
What are Tonic and Clonic Generalized seizures?
Tonic (muscle stiffens
Clonic: Repetitive muscle contract/relax.
Aspects of Absence seizures?
blank stare
sudden..
can happen with chewing/rapid breathing/blinking.
What are the other types of seizures?
Atonic (drop)
Neonatal
What are 4 types of neonatal seizures?
subtle: w/ apnea, weird eye motion, drooling
tonic
clonic
myoclonic: sudden muscle contractions in part or all of body. (consciousness is fine)
Infantile Myoclonic seizures?
seen at 3-9 mo when child waking up
happens in clusters and its contraction followed tonic phase of <10 sec.
