Section 7- Boat Flashcards
Describe the movement where a monk emerges from within the cube of boxes and give the interpretation
-he slowly lifts one arm up to place it on top of the boxes, then the other arm so he can pull himself up and out of the boxes to stand on top of them
-looks like rebirth from Buddhist Philosophy or that he is pulling himself out of quicksand
Describe and explain why Larbi removes the boxes from underneath Dong Dong?
-Dong Dong is stood on the mini replica boxes that are also in a cube position DSR, and one at a time Larbi removes the boxes spreading them out. This foreshadows the monks jumping into Larbi’s box whilst they are dragged into position for the next section. Shows theme of building and destroying
How does Dong Dong create humour in this section?
-all of the monks shout and run jumping on top of the cube of boxes in unison, and so Dong Dong shouts and runs attempting to do the same but fails, falling backwards making the audience laugh, once again to juxtapose with previous intensity
