SECTION 14 - Landing Gear & Brakes Flashcards
If the nutcracker “TEST” switch is pressed while on the ground, what is the affect on the landing gear system?
The landing gear handle down-lock solenoid will be momentarily unlocked
What is the recommended procedure if the landing gear fails to retract after takeoff?
Place the gear handle down and return for landing
What is the first action to take following an unsuccessful nutcracker test?
Turn the ground spoiler switch OFF
What is the purpose of the Aux Pump / Brake System Check?
To check the automatic latch-on feature of the aux hydraulic pump
If the airplane is landed with 1,200 psi on the brake accumulator gauge (assuming proper pre-charge) and the normal brakes fail, will the emergency brakes be available?
No
Gulfstream has recommendations regarding landing the airplane with less than all 3 landing gear down and locked. Where are these procedures found?
The AFM, emergency procedures section
What does the red light in the landing gear handle indicate?
If the handle is up - at least one gear door is not closed. If the handle is down - at least one landing gear is not down
If the parking / emergency brake system is used to stop the aircraft, what type of anti-skid protection is available?
None
Where are the brake temperatures read?
Brakes synoptic page (SPZ-8400) or BTMS (if installed)
What does pulling the emergency landing gear T-handle do?
It repositions the dump valves allowing fluid to be returned to the reservoir and releases the nitrogen to extend the landing gear
How are the landing gear handle and the landing gear selector valve connected?
Mechanically
Describe how to set the parking brake.
Pull the brake handle up, turn it 90°, and ensure that the brake accumulator pressure reads at least 1,700 psi
How would a failure of a gear door to close after gear retraction be indicated on the flight deck?
Red light in gear handle
What is the first action that should be taken if the nutcracker system fails to shift to the airborne mode after takeoff?
Disarm the ground spoilers
If the left nutcracker switch is indicating in-flight, and the right nutcracker switch is on the ground, will the systems respond as if they are airborne or on the ground?
Airborne
