Section 11 - Air Conditioning Flashcards
In high ambient temperatures on the ground (greater than +35° C / 95° F) after APU start, how can the cabin be cooled down most efficiently?
Select full cold manual mode, close all doors, minimize electrical loads
What is the function of the RAM AIR switch?
Closes both air conditioning pack valves, allowing outside air to the cabin
How does the engine START switch and the START MASTER switch affect operation of the air conditioning packs?
The engine START MASTER switch turns off the right pack, and the engine START switch turns off the left pack
How is moisture from the pack air output used to improve system efficiency?
Moisture removed from the air by each pack is sprayed into the duct above the heat exchangers, making them more efficient
If a cabin overhead vent {gasper) is opened, what will the temperature of the air coming out of it be?
Slightly warmer than freezing
What actions will cause the air conditioning shutoff valves to close?
Selection of either pack switch, selection of the RAM AIR switch, or an amber “COOL TURB HOT” CAS message on the ground
After landing in PHX on a hot day, an amber “L COOL TURB HOT” CAS message illuminates. Describe the procedures associated with this abnormality.
- The air conditioning shutoff valve automatically closes 2. Associated Air Conditioning Pack Switch - OFF
While in cruise flight {in IMC), an amber “UNDER FLOOR O’HEAT” CAS message illuminates. Describe the procedures associated with this abnormality.
- If wing anti-ice is on, select left wing OFF 2. If message persists, select right wing OFF 3. Wait 2 minutes 4. If message persists, depart icing conditions 5. If message extinguishes, re-establish wing anti-ice using the anti-ice switch which did not cause the message to extinguish
