Secondary Education
A new code of secondary schools allowed for the traditional gymnasia schools
With Latin and Greek and PE
as well as modern gymnasia schools
which had science and modern languages And Maths
which was considered by some conservitists to be the Spirit of Revolution
1855-65 the number of secondary schools doubled (x2)
Alexander III [1881-93]
Secondary Education
Alexander III bans lower class children from attending secondary schools only only elites and middle-class peoples
Lenin [1917-24]
Secondary Education
Lenin scraps the gymnasia idea and now introduces a new idea called polytechnics
which are when you teach workers skills directed towards a particular area of work
which increases their effectiveness of doing that sort of work
helping them to train for industry
However not all of the people in the party for this was a cool idea
Stalin [1929-53]
Secondary Education
Stalin scrapped all school fees in 1939 for secondary schools
In the 1930s they got rid of polytechnics and went back to traditional grammar schools (similar to gymnasia) and purely vocational based institutions
The greatest emphasis was placed on the development of these vocational educations especially during the Five-Year Plans
This growth of V-Edis reflected by the growth in students attending secondary schools
with in 1931 being 2.5 million pupils
and in 1932 being 6.9 million pupils
Khrushchev [1953-64]
Secondary Education
Khrushchev decided to revert secondary schools back to the Polytechnic model
He decided to scrap all school fees like Stalin did 1939
He closed co-educational boarding schools
He created specialist academies and correspondence courses
You’re so changed some of the history books to reflect his destalanisation policy by making Stalin look bad
This among other things balanced out the positives that Khrushchev bought to Secondary Education
