The on,y way to monitor the air in the FAST PAK is the
Cylinder gauge
It is ESSENTIAL that one member of the FAST UNIT is assigned to
Monitor the actual volume of air remaining in the portable cylinder. This member MUST have audible communication with the extrication team
Key points for high pressure air supply
- If the UAC on the members SCBA is damaged do not attempt to connect the UAC airline assembly from the FAST PAK, use a low pressure method
- If at anytime during the filling process a leak is detected immediately discontinue the filling procedure and supply via one of the low pressure methods
The Schrader connection is
Only used by SOC units
The FAST PAK can be used on
Civilians
Do not use the FAST PAK assigned to the FAST UNIT.
Can also use an extra SCBA
Bleeding the FAST PAK
- Close cylinder valve
- Verify dust cap on high pressure UAC is in place
- Bleed down residual high pressure air by pushing in on the center of the dust cap to vent the high pressure supply line
- Bleed down the low pressure air by using the purge valve
Do I need a mask record card for the FAST PAK
Yes
Once a FAST PAK is out into operation the IC shall insure
That a 2nd FAST PAK is readily available at the scene
FAST PAK shall be turned on
In a clean atmosphere
If the FAST PAK is OOS
Notify the battalion and request the battalion spare FAST PAK
Company will send to MSU via the division messenger
