The 3 types of atmospheric hazards
Asphyiant
Toxic
Explosive
All members entering any confined space must
Use SCBA at all times until the atmoshere is verified safe
The only way to detect a lack of oxygen in a confined space is through the use of an
Oxygen meter carried by Rescue and Haz Mat
Which atmosphere is more difficult to operate in. Is it toxic or asphyiant
Toxic
When entering a confined space FDNY should
Use our ladders
Tie off with a LSR
Remained attached to LSR at all times
LSR can also be used to pull additional tools into the space
As a bare minimum the rescuer need to know
Hazards in the space How to escape How to communicate to the outside How to use the equipment First aide and CPR
Prior to entry into a confined space one member should be designated as the
SCBA control timer
Insure each member has a full SCBA
