Salvage Flashcards

1
Q

You are the Master of a vessel that requires immediate assistance. Tugs are available and offer you help and you have time in hand. What should you do?

A

As Master, and as I have time, I would contact my company and haggle a towing contract with the towing vessels as this is cheaper than a salvage.

Q

Once you are saved by salvor, where should they take you? Port of refuge or place of safety?

A

To get their reward the savlor must take me to a place of safety which has repair, survey etc and ship can be put back into service. Port of refuge could be just a sheltered anchorage.
