A
- admin with water and food
- max dose 650mg
- assess and reassess therapeutic effects and AE

Pt education
A
- take as prescribed
- monitor bruise, bleed, tinnitus, hear loss
- stop 2 weeks before surgery
- prior allergic reaction stop
- limit alcohol
- caution on low Na diet—553 mg of Na

Acute
- hyperpnea and resp alkalosis
- tachypnea/hyperventilation and met acid
- confusion
- pulmonary edema
- tetany
- fever
- stupor, delirium, coma, seizure
Chronic
- dizzy
- tinnitus
- mental confusion

Treatment of toxicity
A
- gastric lavage
- activated charcoal
- IV Na bicarbonate
- hemodialysis
