Accusation against a member of staff
1. Write a statement with the child word for word, do not paraphrase
Do not react in shock , I want to keep you safe and need to know the information to seek help
2. Ask another SLT to take the statement from the member of staff, no paraphrasing, no embellishments
3. Contact social services to seek advice as they are the experts
4. Contact the parents and explain what has happened and what I am doing about it
5. Depending on the situation, you may ask the member of staff to stay at home and you don’t tell anybody why - it’s on a needs to know basis
6. You also contact LADO, the local authority designated officer - every time a member of staff has been accused and seek advice
Same process if it’s a safeguarding issue
