Example when someone has told you that you did something wrong. How did you react?
- S: MCS Production Management. Sent shipping forecast in first month, MD responded saying we were not shipping enough and to amend it with a new projection.
- A: Took the criticism on board, clarified what the monthly target should be. Remained calm, went through orders which were missing components. Made a list of all the component allocated to them. Re-allocated some so more orders could ship. Submitted updated report to MD
- R: The result of this was I learned from the experience what was expected and how to achieve it, ensured we hit out target.
What is your greatest Failure?
- S: MCS Customer Support. Sent replacement drive to wrong address. Use saved address. Customer was angry.
- A: Admitted fault to the customer, sent out upgraded replacement rather than re-organising after authorisation. Updated the address. Made note to always confirm address.
- R: The customer was happy with the upgrade, didn’t occur again. Learned from mistake.
What is your greatest Accomplishment?
- S: Clearing 6 month backlog of failed parts MCS support
- A: systematically identified the most valuable parts, analysed which parts were worth recalling based on their age and value, communicated politely to customers, escalated to their account managers.
- R: Cleared backlog, refunded and replaced over £10k worth of components
What Makes a Good Team?
- Diverse – To work effectively the team needs to have a range of skills, there is little point having everyone with identical skill sets.
- Organised – The team needs to be well organised and working towards the same goals and values. Targets and deadlines ensure that the team is efficient.
- Strong leadership - to make sure everyone is motivated and drives everyone to work towards the same goal.
What Makes a Good Leader?
- Clear Communicator - Effective team leaders communicate clearly. Quality verbal and written communication skills allow leaders to present expectations to team members in a way workers can understand. Effective communication skills also allow team leaders to listen to the input of others.
- Organised - Effective team leaders possess exceptional organizational skills. Organizational skills help team leaders plan objectives and strategies, which allow team members to perform optimally. Organized team leaders put systems in place that maintain order and guide team members toward meeting company goals and objectives.
- Well Respected - A quality team leader is respectful of his team members. A respectful leader empowers employees by encouraging them to offer ideas about decisions that affect them. This lets team members know that the leader respects their input and opinions.
- Able to delegate - Effective team leaders know how to share leadership through delegation. Delegating certain tasks to trustworthy team members allows the leader to focus on improving workplace functions and production.

GCSE Chemistry – Knew what the graph should look like – data point didn’t fit – changed it without re running the experiment – I regret this and have not done this since.
