What is Rule # 6 ?
Live Ball and Dead Ball
What are the three ways a ball goes from a dead ball to a live ball?
1.) A jump ball – when it leaves the official’s hand. 2.) On a free throw, when the ball is at the disposal of the free thrower. 3.) On a throw-in, when the ball is at the disposal of the thrower-in. 6.1.2.a-c. Pg 67
What are the 8 examples of when the alternating possession arrow is used?
- ) When a held ball occurs
- ) The ball goes out of bounds as in 7-3 (simultaneous touching or official’s doubt)
- ) A double or simultaneous free throw violation occurs when no other free throws will occur.

When does the jump ball start and end?
When it leaves the officials hand and ends when the ball touches the playing court, any of the 8 non jumpers, the basket, the backboard or becomes dead. 6.2.2. Pg 67
When should the jump ball be re-jumped?
When the ball is not thrown high enough for the jumpers to have to jump, or when the ball is tossed and not touched before it hits the floor. 6.2.6. Pg 67
