What is Rule # 3 ?
Players and Substitutes
A sub for Team A is at the table when there is a whistle, a dead ball and a throw in. She is not waved in by any official but comes into the game anyway, as a player for team A leaves the floor just as the ball is being inbounded. Legal or not legal.
A sub becomes a player when legally entering the playing floor, meaning being beckoned by an official. When not entered legally she becomes a player when the ball becomes live, even if not beckoned by an official. 3.6.1.d. Pg 42
With 45.6 seconds in the game, Team A scores a basket and the clock is not properly stopped. The official sounds her whistle and stops the game to correct the timing error. There is a sub at the table. What is the ruling?
The sub can NOT enter the game at this time. 3.6.1.i. Pg 42
Player A6 is at the table when a foul is called on B2 fouling A1 in the act of shooting with 12:30 on the game clock in the second half. A6 replaces A2 before A1 shoots the first of 2 free throws. A1 makes the first free throw. A Technical foul is called on B2. The coach of Team A sends A2 to the table to shoot the technical foul shots. Is this legal? Who is required to shoot the next free throws and how is the game resumed?
A2 is not allowed to enter the game to shoot the technical foul shots. Any other member of the team can shoot the technical foul shots, including any other team member on the bench. Two free throws for the technical foul should be attempted next, followed by the final free throw by A1. Play is resumed as any other free throw after the final free throw by A1. 3.6.1.j. Pg 42
When is a coach allowed to counter a substitution because of a substitution by the other team?
When a team calls a timeout to keep an injured player in the game and that injured player is not ready to play at the final horn of the timeout, the team is required to immediately substitute for the injured player. The other team is allowed the opportunity to counter that substitution even if made after the final horn of the timeout.3.6.3.e. Pg 43
What is the neutral zone of the uniform and what determines the main color of any teams uniform?
The neutral zone determines the color of the uniform. It is at least 12”Wide measured from the center of the neckline and going at least 6” in each direction. The shoulder panel is no more than 5” from the top of the shoulder seam on both the front and the back. The neutral zone extends from the top of the shoulder panel to the bottom of the jersey. 1.22.5&6 pg 28
What are the requirements for the size of the numbers?
They must be at least 6” high on the back and at least 4 “high on the front and not less than 1” wide. 1.22.7.b.4. Pg29
