Q

What is the first test that can be carried out to identify transition metal ion?

A

1) Add 10 drops of each solution (Q, R, S) in a test tube. Add sodium hydroxide solution drop by drop to each until in excess. Record any observations.
2) Stand in a beaker of hot water for 10 minutes.
3) Compare the colour changes to the known colour changes of transition metal ions.

Q

What is the second test that can be carried out to identified transition metal ion?

A

1) Add about 10 drops of each solution into a different test tube with sodium carbonate shake and record observations.
2) Compare the colour changes to the known colour changes of the transition metal ions.
